Achievements and facts on Sachin

He has been rated the no.1 batsman in the latest Wisden Cricket Ratings (based on Test match performances). He has scored at an average of above 57 in the last two years ( 26 tests ).
He was rated the number 1 batsman in the world by the prestigious Coopers and Lybrands ratings in 1995, and now in 1998. He was also number 1 in the CEAT cricket ratings of 1996.
He made his first class debut at the age of 15 and scored a century on debut.
In 1989/90 at the age of just 16 years and 205 days, he became the youngest player to play at the test level for India against Pakistan at Karachi.
He scored his first test century at the age of 17 years and 112 days.
At the age of 19 he became the youngest player to score 1000 test runs, during India's tour of South Africa (1992/93).
He was the first ever overseas player to play for Yorkshire.
He scored a century in the first match in which he captained the Indian team.

He has 16 Test centuries to his credit and 19 Test fifties in 61 Test Matches at an average of 54.84. He has scored 4552 runs.

Sachin is also a very talented bowler- he can spin the ball both ways (including flippers, googlies, top spinners, arm balls, etc) and his best bowling figures in one dayers are among the best by an Indian- 5 wickets for 32 runs in 10 overs against a strong Australian batting lineup. He can also bowl medium pace.
He holds the record for hitting the most sixes by an Indian in a one day match : 7 .
