She underwent a metamorphosis from gauche to sexy to sophistication. Yeah! we are talking about the petite girl from the Bollywood royal family - `The Kapoors'.Karishma has dethroned the likes of Madhuris, Urmilas and the rest. While her rivals are cooling their heels, Karishma is riding high on her new found success. |
It all began with Jeet
and Raja Hindustani becoming the biggest hits in recent times. She has proved that she is
capable of doing more than just looking pretty and gyrating alongside Govinda. The success
of Raja Hindustani is reflecting on the Kapoor girl's entire personality. The green-eyed
beauty walks down the memory lane and recollects her entry into the film industry with
`Prem Qaidi'. Then her critics had wrote her off as a one-film wonder as she was not the
typical Indian looking girl. The other drawback was her light-eyes. But the teenaged girl
bore it all with a smile and her critics helped her to get the better of her. It has
finally paid off and she feels very good that she has made it despite all odds.
The Kapoor girl had a wrong notion that she would be accepted with open arms after giving a mega-hit like `Anari.' In that film she looked totally a `desi'girl by draping herself in a nine-yard sari. But yet again she was not given the credit for the film's success. Then she got labelled herself as `the sexy girl' with the song `Sexy sexy....' from Raja Babu becoming a rage in the entire nation.
Now her image has
undergone a major transformation with Jeet, Raja Hindustani, Rakshak et al. Gone are the
days when she was known as`gauche' or `sexy'. She is one among the `sophisticated' lot
with her new ravishing looks. She looks mind-blowing in the song `Sundara sundara.... from
Rakshak.
Karishma is on cloud nine these days and she says she has got her due credit after Raja Hindustani. She is very enthusiastic to talk about this film. She says right from the first moment when she heard the script, she knew that this film would do wonders for her. She was totally impressed by the script from the word go.
The character of Arati
was that of a very good, pure person and she wanted to portray the character on the screen
as if she is undergoing all the emotions herself.
She says she was not at
all wary about playing the role of wife and a mother. Actually this film was offered to
Juhi first. But Karishma has no regrets about accepting Juhi's rejects. Well! someone is
turning green with envy. But there is no point in crying over spilt milk. Karishma is
happy that her performance has been appreciated by the very ones who had written her off.
Karishma doesn't have any bitterness towards anybody. She is looking
forward for her next film `Ajay' due for release. She wants to do all kinds of roles and
she doesn't want herself to be slotted in a particular slot. She is happy and contended
with her being coronated as the `Shehzadi' of the box-office. So, folks lay the red carpet
for the Princess and raise a `toast' in her name. Hic, hic!!!
